Abstract

Each new information technology, especially the disruptive ones, is considered a new hope for addressing strategic decision-making under uncertainty. Artificial intelligence (as powered by machine learning on big data) is no exception, given its already-proven impact on business (e.g., as foundational to a half-dozen trillion-dollar, pseudo-monopoly, platform ‘gatekeeper’ firms). In this supplement, we analyze its many interesting relationships with the uncertainties considered in this book, and then consider the important—even existential—implications.
