Abstract

The study of the social and sustainable policies developed by companies is an open debate that arouses great interest in the academic literature. Beyond merely financial performance, sustainable performance emerges as the result of a complex process in which different factors are involved, both internal to the company and associated with the environment in which it interacts. With this research, we propose to study how the implementation of green innovation initiatives, international activity and territorial networks are factors that contribute to sustainable performance in companies. In order to analyse these research questions, a multi-sectoral sample of 189 companies from the Valencian Community in Spain has been studied. The results suggest that these factors imply a greater socio-environmental awareness, as well as an improvement in learning and knowledge about new sustainable practices, which has an impact on sustainable performance. In summary, this work contributes to a better understanding of how companies can adjust to new demands.
