Abstract

This chapter discusses the nature and dynamics of emerging economies by covering the key attributes and ingredients found in a typical emerging economy. It demonstrates that the rise to prominence of emerging economies is due to the era of globalization and not accidental. Rather, it is a product of a deliberate act of planning, investments, and human mobility. The chapter further points to the varying dynamics and nature of emerging economies in the domains of civil liberties, freedom of speech, structural reforms, political freedom, informal economies, and rule of law despite having some common attributes. Thus, we recommend the imperative to avoid generalization across all emerging economies in market and economic policies.
