Leadership in the Pre-industrial and Early Industrial Revolution

This chapter will focus on the work system before and during the early industrial revolution. The three systems discussed include the domestic, the putting-out, and the factory work systems (Britannica 2020a, Domestic System. In the domestic system, work was done by the family, who provided the equipment, and the raw materials, carried out the processing, and owned the final products. The putting-out was where the family did work, but merchants supplied the raw material and owned the final products. In this system, the family provided their service at an agreed price. The factory system was when work was done in a central location outside the family, owned by the merchants.
