Abstract

The aim of the present chapter is twofold: first is to review the policy measures implemented to support education across the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy during the various outbreaks of the current pandemic and their inter-relation with various dimensions of inequality (including regional, income and wealth) and inclusion. The second one is to appraise a number of studies that have evaluated these measures which, it is argued, have omitted significant aspects of the exacerbation of disparities in learning opportunities and learning conditions that are likely to cause ripple and long-lasting effects beyond education. The chapter concludes with a suggested analytical framework able to capture these effects.
