Abstract

Jo Ann Skousen, From Social Democrat to Libertarian. Jo Ann Skousen’s libertarian journey began when she met her future husband and lifelong partner, economist Mark Skousen. They have written numerous books on economics, history, and personal finance as well as the libertarian pamphlet “Persuasion vs Force.” Jo Ann became close friends with early leaders of the liberty movement and has organized libertarian conferences and seminars for the Eris Society, the Foundation for Economic Education, and FreedomFest. In 2011 she founded the Anthem Libertarian Film Festival. She has written hundreds of movie reviews from a libertarian perspective and is the entertainment editor of Liberty magazine. As an English professor at Rollins College, Mercy College, Sing Sing Correctional Facility, and Chapman University, Jo Ann has guided her students to discover the principles of individuality, choice, and accountability.
