Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die globalen Investitions- und Wachstumsmuster haben sich in den letzten Jahren stark verändert. Multinationale Unternehmen aus Schwellenländern haben erheblich an Bedeutung gewonnen. Dies hat in jüngster Zeit einige Besorgnis ausgelöst, aber auch die Hoffnung geweckt, dass multinationale Unternehmen aus Schwellenländern zum Wirtschaftswachstum in Europa beitragen können. Im ersten Teil dieses Kapitels wird ein kurzer historischer Überblick über die weltweiten Direktinvestitionsströme gegeben. Im zweiten Teil werden Mainstream-Ansätze mit alternativen Ansichten kontrastiert. Insbesondere werden Erkenntnisse aus der kritischen politischen Ökonomie und postkeynesianische Perspektiven vorgestellt. Auf diese Weise werden die Besonderheiten der multinationalen Unternehmen in den Schwellenländern und die aktuellen Entwicklungen in eine breitere Perspektive gestellt. Es wird festgestellt, dass die Auswirkungen von multinationalen Unternehmen und ausländischen Direktinvestitionen in Schwellenländern von den Beziehungen zwischen Zentrum und Peripherie, den wirtschaftlichen Entwicklungsmodellen und dem institutionellen Kontext abhängen. Daher erfordert die Bewertung der Auswirkungen multinationaler Schwellenländer in Europa eine detaillierte mehrdimensionale Analyse.
