Food and Water Security of the Middle East (the Case of Egypt)

Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to identify the state of food and water security in Egypt within the framework of the problem of sustainable development. Methodology: To achieve this goal, the authors used a group of theoretical approaches related to the problems of sustainable development and its food and water components. In addition, a combination of situational analysis and predictive method was used in this work, which allowed for this, a combination of situational analysis and predictive method was used in this work, which allowed us to form an understanding of the state of food and water security of Middle Eastern States on the example of Egypt. Findings: The paper defines the current difficult state of Egypt in the context of ensuring its food and water security, which is associated with the geographical location of the country, as well as with a complicated foreign policy situation, which creates existential challenges and threats for the country. Originality: The case of Egypt demonstrates that many States in the Middle East face the problem of access to water and food resources. Threats to Egypt in this area have both an internal and external background. The inefficient use of water resources, the underdevelopment of the agricultural sector, and international problems lead modern Egypt to the real possibility of a deep systemic crisis that can have an impact on the regional and global complex of problems related to sustainable development issues.
