Abstract

New ventures typically rely on the experiences of entrepreneurs and staff members to solicit customer information, seek feedback, experiment, and react to market opportunities (Edmondson., 1999; Flatten et al., 2015). However, relying on individuals is insufficient to support a sustainable venture that can produce new products, services, or processes consistently. Instead, entrepreneurs must build productive learning processes so that experiences residing within individuals can be routinized and embedded in venture-wide behaviours. Routinizing behaviours is necessary for coordinating the skills and cognitions of organizational members and is a critical step for new ventures to continuously interpret and serve new market demands.
