Abstract

This chapter deals with industrial revolutions. It sets the context of industry 5.0 for the supply network 5.0. It also underlines the concept of digital transformation. It describes the leading technological solutions connected with industry 5.0. This chapter includes the emerging challenges these solutions and methods uncover and some advisable follow-up strategies to extract the most value from these transformational processes while minimizing their possible downturn. Industry 5.0 visions describe sustainable, resilient, and human-centered future operations with human operators and smart machines working in teams. These teams need to be resilient to respond to changes in the environment. Resilience needs to be reflected in dynamic task allocation and the flexibility of the team members to change roles. Additionally, changes in the production environment require the system to be resilient and adapt to respond to changing expectations and requirements. After a joint cognitive system has been initially designed and implemented, it continuously co-evolves as both human and automation actors learn, thus gaining new skills and capabilities to manage machines appropriately.
