Abstract

This chapter is a deep dive into how to think about money and payments, a topic that is often only glanced over in importance, when it serves as the bedrock for every sector and industry in the digital world. We provide a history of money and payments and a snapshot as to the current state of its digital development including the intricacies of underlying financial market infrastructures and how these are bound to evolve.
