Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of a selection of key technologies of our time to equip readers with a reference point to understanding their current state and development, an area that is often foreign to academics, policy-makers and practitioners. We highlight that not only these technologies are novel but they also represent new ways of doing things that may lead to further centralisation or decentralisation.
