Abstract

An academic learns quickly in their career that they’re not the uber-genius they once thought themselves possible to be. Reluctantly, within the first few years you realize that writing is hard and publishing is even harder, even when it’s your full-time job to get things in print. There are researchers more innovative, more dedicated, with less friends, and a lower dependence on the lure and appeal of getting sidetracked by new ideas, theories, and stories. But what the others may outpace you with in discipline, dotted i’s, and crossed t’s, I learned in qualitative camp you can make up for by seeking the unexpected.
