Abstract

Zusammenfassung Produktionssysteme sind nicht mehr das, was sie einmal waren. Jahrhundert werden Unternehmen und Produktionsbetriebe mit völlig neuen Generationen von Technologien, Dienstleistungen und Produkten konfrontiert, die auf Computertechnologien basieren (Schuh & Gottschalk, 2008). Um dem Wettbewerb auf den globalen Märkten standzuhalten und den langfristigen Erfolg zu sichern, müssen sich die Unternehmen auf kürzere Lieferzeiten, eine zunehmende Produktvariabilität und eine hohe Marktvolatilität einstellen, indem sie in der Lage sind, sensibel und rechtzeitig auf kontinuierliche und unerwartete Veränderungen zu reagieren (Wiendahl et al., 2007). Einer der wichtigsten Eckpfeiler zur Bewältigung dieser Herausforderungen ist die Implementierung digitaler Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien in Produktionssysteme, -prozesse und -technologien, die durch die Verbindung von physischer Welt und schnellem Datenzugriff und Datenverarbeitung über das Internet neuartige Entwicklungen ermöglichen (Industrie 4.0).
