Abstract

Through university interests, business links and increased support, or the intervention of government, there is now an evidently growing appetite for entrepreneurship. In this chapter, Crammond refers to a number of real-world examples and national and international reporting which impact the university’s ongoing enterprising activity and benefits society. These are reviewed through the lens of the university objective and range of entrepreneurial responses, at institutional level. Additional themes here include Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), ethics, and citizenship, which influence the entrepreneurial university’s premise, rationale, and outputs. The third case study of the book is presented, concerning the importance of colleagues, classrooms, and communities. This leads to cultural and societal considerations being outlined, and an explanation of the third element of the book’s University Model for Entrepreneurship (UM4E): Message.
