Abstract

In this chapter, the authors present a study of mindfulness in Mexican organizations as an effective way to increase individual and organizational well-being. It presents the benefits perceived on a personal and organizational level by employees of two different organizations that have mindfulness programs. The creation of these programs within their respective organizations took different paths; while in one organization the impulse and creation came from top management, in the other, middle managements created the mindfulness programs. The study followed a qualitative approach, with the interest of recovering the voice of the participants and knowing these benefits in greater depth. In the first section, the authors present a brief review of mindfulness construct and its origins. It briefly presents the Mexican context in which the interviews were conducted, as well as the characteristics of the interviewees. The third section presents the results of mindfulness on a personal level, how the collaborators see it and how they apply it in their day-to-day lives. The fourth section presents the results at the organizational level, according to several dimensions.
