Abstract

This chapter explains the actions needed to build inclusive teams and address the gender imbalance in FinTech. I cover ‘fixing the foundations’ ranging from societal barriers including perceptions of gender and perceptions of the industry, building psychological safety, and, the biggest one of all, leaders within business deciding that this is imperative to their success and therefore choosing to make it happen. I explain how important it is to have true allies who are willing to take action, changes to parental leave to ‘level the playing field’ and how important new ways of recruitment, succession planning, and training will be to achieve our goals.
