Abstract

Understanding the key elements of how women practice philanthropy provides essential insights for building a women’s philanthropy initiative or working with women donors, but seasoned professionals know that assessing donors involves objective analysis and subjective reasoning. Numerous tools and assessment instruments are available to help fundraisers determine the best prospects for philanthropic gifts. These usually include the collection of donor data, a history of the donor’s investments and community affiliations, and some form of rating based on those factors. It all sounds a bit sterile and scientific and indeed data mining is big business. Chapter 4 focused on some of the elements of how women like to give, this chapter takes the analysis a bit deeper.
