M2W and the Multinational Enterprise

Abstract

The multinational enterprise epitomizes the Me to We (M2W) nexus, given the myriad of relationships global corporations maintain with both business and non-business entities. While the flow of goods, labor, and capital has contributed to the increase in welfare among peoples and countries, there have also been associated costs. The movement of goods, labor, and capital requires some vigilance in practice, increasing the need for M2W to become a cornerstone of all corporations. This chapter discusses the strong environmental, social, and governance proposition links to value creation in five essential ways and provides examples of multinational firm collaboration with suppliers, labor, and universities. Through its relationship with suppliers, workers, universities and vocational-technical institutions, and local economic development agencies, MNCs pursue and can achieve win-win outcomes effectively and sustainably. One can only suspect that these relationships will increase and expand for the foreseeable future.
