Abstract

This chapter represents the attempt to emphasize the potentials of HCI in the context of ICT-related changes and their management, which society (as individuals, companies, and public authorities) has to deal with today. The chapter starts with a description and definition of the basic concepts of HCI, which are—besides HCI itself—usability engineering (UE), user experience (UX), and user-centered design (UCD) as procedural model. On the basis of a guiding example, the chapter shows the possibilities and benefits of applying HCI in ICT development processes and finally addresses new developments, such as Agile UX and Lean UX. The chapter concludes with an outlook on future developments, emphasizing the importance of HCI in the context of change management.
