Conclusion: Luxury Yachting—New Insights and Further Questions

This chapter, highlights the global outlook of the book afforded through the academic and practitioner insights obtained in different parts of the world. It emphasizes the methodological uniqueness of this publication and stresses its contribution to expanding our knowledge of the luxury yachting industry through the rigour of academic considerations and invaluable practitioner perspectives. Addressing the common themes which emerged in the book, Conclusion points out that in the context of the global pandemic, the luxury yachting industry has seen a demand for growth, however this does not mean that the industry adds to the issues of overtourism. On the contrary, it allows to address some of the concerns associated with it. In addition, it is also noted that the commonly addressed issue of sustainability raised by several authors, signals the importance of addressing environmental and societal responsibility of the industry. This raises a question of an emergence of a global identity in the context of luxury yachting and whether the industry with its global span of operations and truly intercultural and transnational character can be seen as a platform for addressing global challenges by influencing the development of a global mindset among its stakeholders.
