Abstract

International student exchange, internships and mentoring schemes are ways of educating future talent, but in times of high costs, closed borders and low-level mobility, there is a challenge to create an online international entrepreneurial learning environment that offers a global, inclusive and credible student experience without physical travel. This chapter introduces and details the pedagogical approach to, and instructional design of, an online transatlantic educational project. Involving cross-border collaborative team working, students studying entrepreneurship at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) collaborated with students from SUNY Ulster University in the USA. Students were placed in teams, and they participated in a six-week ‘live’ transatlantic trading venture, conducting business with their partnering nation. To enable the online educational experience, we designed a socio-psychological learning environment featuring diversity management and configured a pedagogical rationale establishing a nexus of three discrete concepts—building entrepreneurial culture using technology, through the practice of inclusivity.
