Digital Tools and Experiential Learning in Science-Based Entrepreneurship Education

Abstract

Science and technology-based entrepreneurship education (SBEE) programs draw upon experiential learning. Four building blocks assist in optimizing the learning effect of experiential learning: (1) Real-worldness, (2) ill-defined problems, (3) execution, (4) reflection. An SBEE program at VU University is assessed on the extent to which digital tools enrich experiential learning in science-based entrepreneurship education. Based on an assessment, using these four building blocks, of the extent to which digital tools replicate the entrepreneurial experience in a science context, we draw lessons on how to optimize the use of digital tools in entrepreneurship education for experiential learning.
