Industry 4.0 in the Messages Published by Employers and Trade Unions in France, Germany, Poland, and the UK

Abstract

The aim of the study is to compare the public messages formulated by employer associations and trade unions concerning the Fourth Industrial Revolution (or Industry 4.0) in France, Germany, Poland, and the UK. The analysis covers the years 2011–2019 and is based on a newly collected set of 1325 publications. The results indicate that in the case of Industry 4.0 there is one message with regard to which employer associations and trade unions are in agreement. It states that to help the manufacturing sector benefit from Industry 4.0 the government should invest much more in workers’ skills.
