Vietnam: Open, Growing, but with so Much More Potential

Abstract

Previous to 1994, Vietnam was either a colony of France, at war or under a US-led embargo. Since that time, it has opened up its economy to trade and foreign direct investment. The result was a massive increase in trade, and, through trade, the prosperity of the country. The chapter ends with suggestions to extend and improve this performance.
