Abstract

Views of the resource theory landscape to illuminate the linkages between resources and corporate objectives are presented. Definitional conceptualizations about organizational resources are offered as is a summary view of resource-based theories. Resource-based theories focus on the internal factors within organizations, emphasizing the firm’s own decisions and competencies rather than its environment. This includes the organizational resources entities leverage for performance improvements. Using recent sources of empirical work, corporate mitigative efforts suggest a possible misalignment with the original conceptualizations of RBV and its variants including the natural resource-based view.
