Abstract

Co-innovation is a constant. Executives view innovation and ecosystems as critical to future growth yet many lack the necessary capabilities to orchestrate an ecosystem—including how to engage in co-innovation with a diverse set of firms. The book details how a co-innovation platform can help firms address this challenge. In this chapter, we begin by reinforcing the key insights and distinctive benefits of a co-innovation platform. We then discuss how co-innovation helps firms solve complex challenges as they navigate digital and cloud-based business transformation. We conclude the book by revisiting the important role that diversity—in actors, projects, technologies—plays in sustaining ecosystem generativity and offer guidance on different forms of co-innovation platforms.
