Abstract

If you want to build a co-innovation platform, where do you start? A first step involves identifying the problem or opportunity the platform will solve for your organization. Next, what does your organization want to achieve with the platform? Once the objectives and scope are established, attention shifts to building a platform activity system that supports the objectives: What resources and capabilities are needed? How will they fit together to enable and shape co-innovation? How will the platform be managed? In this chapter, we discuss the core services, processes, and activities of a co-innovation platform. Since innovation is a resource intensive process, providing innovators access to supply-side and demand-side services for co-innovation accelerates the innovation process and yields performance benefits.
