    (Diversity and Performance)

Abstract

A diversity journey is at its heart a change journey. There will be periods of effort and investment, moments of great satisfaction when progress is made, but also setbacks and disappointments. That is normal and to be expected. What is important is to harness the energy of the organization to make the diversity journey a sustainable one. Each diversity journey is unique but there are shared ways to sustain it and create an abundance of energy which the organization can draw from to keep diversity in a state of constant renewal. The journey needs to be tended like a fire: it relies on the guardian of the fire to put the logs on at the right time, to ensure that not too many logs are put on at the same time, so there is enough oxygen for the fire to burn long and brightly.
