Abstract

The chapter describes the main characteristics of the economic and socio-political context and business environment in which Moldova’s potential hidden champions operate. The other topic of this chapter is the way that the companies in a small country in Eastern Europe manage to expand regionally and globally, and develop a worldwide database of customers. The potential hidden champions of Moldova share some characteristics in terms of how they face challenges at the national and international levels, the core principles of their corporate cultures, the way of doing business, and the lessons learned on their path to success. The conducted interviews emphasized the development needs of the companies and their success factors. Also, secondary sources were consulted in order to describe the stories of the potential hidden champions. The chapter ends with a list of conclusions and recommendations for stakeholders that could help Moldova’s potential hidden champions prosper in the future.
