Abstract

Entropy and similarity measures are the important tools for measuring uncertain information. Over time, entropy measures of fuzzy sets and intuitionistic fuzzy sets are proposed and applied in real-world problems. Especially, the entropy and similarity are studied together to apply to the multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) problems. The neutrosophic sets are known as a generalization of fuzzy sets and intuitionistic fuzzy sets. So that, the measures of neutrosophic sets also discovered and developed to handle with the uncertainty of the real problems. In this chapter, we introduce the new concept of entropy measure of interval-valued neutrosophic sets (IVNSs), in which the conditions for an entropy measure are proposed. At the same time, we give some formulas to define the entropy measures of IVNS and compare to some existing entropy measures by numerical examples. After that, we introduce the similarity measures induced by the new entropy measures and comparison with the existing similarity measures. Finally, we make a MCDM model based on the proposed entropy and similarity measures.
