Abstract

The world’s population is aging, but it is an especially significant concern in developed countries such as Japan and South Korea. The aging population has significantly impacted the workforce and the way people prepare for their lifelong learning, career management and transition, and retirement. Thus, HRD departments and practitioners in organizations must identify more creative solutions to address the many challenging aging issues in the workforce. The purpose of this study is to review and synthesize the literature on aging issues and identify possible HRD approaches and solutions to guide HRD researchers and practitioners in addressing various aging issues arising at the individual and organizational levels.
