Abstract

This last chapter provides an action framework for understanding and profiting from IP for practitioners and analysts. First, it reviews the fundamental understanding of IP, including basic knowledge about IP and the function of IPS. Second, several countries’ IP environments are assessed to help practitioners and analysts establish a critical understanding about which countries could be selected as an international base where IP can be profitably commercialized. Third, the chapter focuses on managerial matters so practitioners and analysts can equip themselves with knowledge about IP assets. Finally, the section on strategizing IP actions allows practitioners and analysts to assess which internationalizing strategies are most appropriate for profiting from IP, in particular, which licensing strategy represents the best option, and what strategies to adopt to deal with piracy issues.
