Abstract

FranceFrance is characterised by a low labour force participationLabour force participation rateLabour force participation rates (lfpr) after of the age of 60. Recent and current reforms aim to increase the working lifeWorking life : raising the legal retirement ageLegal retirement age and increasing the duration of insurance contributions to obtain a full pension. Women have more career breaks, higher rates of part-time work and therefore lower pensions than menMen . Workers in hazardousHazardous jobs or with long careers can under certain conditions retire earlier than the legal age of 62 years. The gender inequalities observed in early years of employment are exacerbated in the latter part of the working lifeWorking life .
