Abstract

This chapter examines the underlying theories that help to explain the nature of organizational culture as defined in this book. In this chapter, several of these theories are listed; however, the chapter is primarily concerned with process metaphysics. Subsequent to defining this philosophy generally, the chapter presents an examination of many of the specific ideas involved in process metaphysics and their implications for studying and working with organizations. Finally, the chapter examines ways to incorporate these ideas into one’s practice and mindset.
