Abstract

Rapid growth in wine tourism is a global phenomenon and has largely been developed in the form of wine routes. This chapter aims to evaluate the prominent wine routes in Turkey and to discuss their strengths while underlying the weaknesses of these routes. Further, the chapter aims to identify perspectives on future potential in order to increase marketing effectiveness of these routes. The chapter makes a summary of the development of winemaking in this geography and provides several arguments showing how each route is developed emphasizing the strengths and weaknesses of the routes. Further, challenges that hinder the development of these routes are discussed. Finally, the chapter discusses development paths of wine tourism and wine routes in Turkey.
