Abstract

Chapter 1 already emphasized that consumer-grade technology has a big influence on enterprise software. In this chapter, we’ll take a look at current trends coming from that side of the tech world. Each section of this chapter will introduce a common problem the industry faces today and briefly explain a trend that promises to address this problem, as well as show the challenges that come with this trend. The sections will also evaluate the relevance of that problem to enterprise software and particularly to the SAP UI universe and mention incubating projects from SAP to provide a standard solution. This chapter should be seen as a potential outlook in the future and inspiration for spare time projects, but not as a guaranteed forecast for upcoming technologies.
