Abstract

Organizations are also places where stakeholders with diverse interests compete for attention and resources. Therefore, the effective use of power to achieve goals is critical to stakeholder success in organizations. Effective political action is a learnable skill, and numerous books on office politics indicate significant interest in it. Software professionals who turn to this kind of literature may be surprised to find that many things they have done or experienced in the workplace before are well-known forms of political behavior. In this chapter, we look at political skill and ethics.
