Abstract

On a perfect team, all members would understand what is expected of them, and the members would all hold themselves accountable for meeting the expectations. There are actually some teams like this. These mature teams are sometimes called high-performing teams. Typically, work is assigned to the team and the team figures out how to do it. No project manager or team leader is needed. However, it may take a long time to reach this highperforming state—and many teams never reach this level.
