Abstract

The historical and cultural ties between the former republics of the USSR are outlined in the present study. Attention is focused on the proximity of the legislative framework of regulations at the terminological and structural levels. The chapter has been focused on national legal documents and their application, as well as the analysis of international ratings of the state of Internet freedom. The authors of the research note the improvement in positions of the post-Soviet countries that are members of various international organizations in the ratings. The conclusions confirm that the Internet as a technical and social phenomenon possesses global nature. Thus, it can and should be regulated by international norms aligned with the national legislation.
