Abstract

My goals in this concluding chapter are twofold. First, I review what I think are the most important policy takeaways from the preceding chapters. While I have provided a number of quantitative estimates for various aspects of facility subsidy debates, I think the more helpful insights for policy analysts involve correctly framing and understanding the measurement of property tax expenditures. Second, I draw attention to aspects of the public financing of sports facilities that this book raises but does not answer. Some of these matters bear on the property tax directly; others are tangential. I hope this chapter inspires future research.
