Abstract

The introduction provides information about the sense and purpose to address cybersecurity investments. The reader gets an understanding how this book has been motivated and why guidance for decision making in the field of cybersecurity can be very useful. The first subchapter gives an impression why the threat level in cyberspace is actually very high, and how attackers are becoming more and more dangerous. The second subchapter describes the new challenges for cybersecurity that are primarily caused by the fast technological development of the Internet and the subsequently created possibilities. The third subchapter gives a general understanding not only about the benefits but also about the difficulties of integrating economic aspects in the decision making. The fourth subchapter provides an outlook to the following chapters.
