Abstract

This chapter covers the strategic management of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the context of the digital era in order to assist SMEs in maintaining their viability in the global market, a market that is largely defined by very rapid and major changes due to the acceleration of innovation in the digital age. The chapter aims to highlight the need to use new methods of strategic thinking to help SMEs maintain their viability in the global market. The theoretical part of the research approaches the current state of knowledge, with references to strategies and strategic management under the conditions imposed by the evolution of the digital era. Through research, critical knowledge and information about the business environment in the digital age is obtained. This information is necessary to understand new trends, technologies, and changes affecting the global business environment. The research study identifies new challenges facing SMEs and provides insights and solutions to address them. One of the main contributions of scientific research in the strategic management of SMEs in the digital age is the identification and development of new models and techniques of strategic thinking. Innovative research provides conceptual frameworks and practical tools to address the specific challenges posed by the digital environment.
