Abstract

This chapter addresses the issue of organizational knowledge acquisition from the perspective of the modern organization, which cannot act outside of knowledge management and, therefore, cannot abstract from the intellectual capital at its disposal. Knowledge management is a vital field in modern economic organizations, with the main objective of capitalizing and optimizing the knowledge and information available within the organization. In the context of accelerating technological and economic changes, the ability to manage knowledge becomes a strategic source of competitive advantage. The fundamental purpose of this chapter was to make a contribution to the improvement of the process of knowledge accumulation within small and medium enterprise (SME) organizations by developing and using quantitative and qualitative work tools, methodologies, and specific methods adapted to the needs and the particularities of these organizations. Modern business organizations are faced with a vast amount of information and knowledge that they must manage effectively. Knowledge management focuses on identifying, capturing, storing, organizing, and distributing knowledge within the organization so that it can be optimally accessed and used by the members of the organization. The main objective of the research was to investigate and analyze the knowledge acquisition process at the level of SMEs. This research sought to gain an in-depth understanding of how SME organizations acquire and use knowledge to improve their performance and competitiveness.
