Abstract

Gastronomy has established itself as a critical element in tourist satisfaction and loyalty to return to a destination. This study analyzes the culinary preferences of tourists visiting a mountainous area. We employed a questionnaire-based survey for the data collection. A total of 192 tourists participated in the study. We applied descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The factor analysis findings indicate that a tourist’s decision to revisit an area depends on the perceived destination food image, the food quality, and the food satisfaction resulting from the experience. Findings provide insight to policymakers and local business authorities of the tourism sector interested in improving their performance and accomplishing culinary tourists’ expectations.
