Abstract

This chapter assessed the suppliers’ perception on determinants of behavioral intention to use e-procurement system. It focused on the effects of performance expectancy (PE), social influence (SI), and effort expectancy (EE) on behavioral intention to use e-procurement system in Tanzania. A deductive approach and an explanatory cross-sectional survey research design were adopted. Stratified sampling technique was used to select 212 suppliers. Questionnaire and documentary review were used to collect data. The collected data for respondents’ profile were analyzed using descriptive statistics with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics software Version 21. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with the help of SmartPLS Version 3 software was used for inferential statistical analysis. The findings reveal that performance expectancy, social influence, and effort expectancy have positive effects on behavioral intention to use Tanzania National e-Procurement System (TANePS) and on procurement performance. The chapter concludes that performance expectancy, social influence, and effort expectancy are determinants of behavioral intention to use e-procurement system, and they have effects on procurement performance. This chapter recommends that all governments in the developing countries should ensure that the determinants of behavioral intention to use e-procurement system are taken into consideration during the reform and expansion of the new procurement system.
