Abstract

The relevance of improving indicators for assessing the growth of the small and medium-sized businesses sector is taken into the consideration in this article. The existing methodology for calculating the Growth Index for small and medium-sized businesses, which is necessary for assessing the state of the sector and forecasting its development through federal and regional programs, is considered and analyzed in the article. When using analytical and statistical methods, the necessity of adjusting the algorithm for calculating the SME Growth Index by using an additional parameter—“the total number of SMEs” was proved. The relevance of improving the calculation methodology lies in the need to obtain more accurate and objective information about the state of the business sector of the Russian Federation, which is the basis for calculating the volume of budget financing for the implementation of programs for its development.
