Abstract

The article deals with the problems of the development of cultural landscapes of the UNESCO World Heritage. The problem of assessing the tourist and recreational potential is an important component of the sustainable development of the territory. The authors propose an approach based on a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the possibilities of development of the territory in different areas of ecological (lithosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere) and humanitarian (economosphere, sociosphere, politosphere and spiritosphere) potential. The authors propose a methodology for assessing the tourist and recreational attractiveness of cultural landscapes drawing on the example of the national park “Curonian Spit”. In this study, the method of expert assessments is used, on the basis of which a petal diagram is compiled. Visualization of the data obtained allows to see the best and worst positions of different spheres, which is of great scientific and practical importance. The practical benefit is that tourists receive information about the structure of the territory and can choose it as the object of their journey, and local governments can develop a program to improve tourism opportunities in the most problematic areas. The scientific achievement of this study is that a comprehensive ecological and humanitarian approach to the study of the tourist and recreational potential of the territory is proposed for the first time.
