Abstract

Gordon Rausser has had a unique place in the pantheon of resource economics—as an eminent scholar and unrivaled leader. He has been endowed with unique charm and wisdom, and honed other leadership skills over the years. He developed the capacity to multitask, being fully engaged in each activity but able to move smoothly among tasks. His leadership benefited from his courage, energy and clear sense of priorities and dedication. He has chosen ambitious but feasible goals and pursued them efficiently. He has been a team builder, loyal and supporting friend who has been developing people through delegation and partnership. Our department, the university, California, the nation, and the world benefited from Gordon’s leadership gifts.
