Abstract

The growing interest in the metaverse is continuously increasing in recent years and involves many economic sectors. Primarily the fashion sector has long understood the potential of digital platforms and the advantages of being present in the main online gaming ones. Many fashion brands have entered meaningful partnerships with video game companies in recent years, “dressing” the avatars with their clothing. Regarding the metaverse, the fashion sector has taken up the challenge by creating the first Metaverse Fashion Week. After New York, Milan, and Paris, the fashion houses have landed on the Decentraland platform for a week of all-digital fashion shows and events. This work aims to do a systematic literature review to explore state-of-the-art relating to the digital innovation of fashion in the metaverse, in both business and social relations dimensions, on virtual gaming platforms and not strictly to find future research fields.
